Who are our clients?
People who want to know that they can find their belongings within a few minutes of time in their own home. People looking for storage solutions so their rooms are functional. Our clients could be the stay-at-home mothers who need to know where they put their child’s invitation to the party next week. They could be the young professionals who don’t have a bill paying system created and are constantly paying late charges. Maybe they are seniors looking to downsize their house to a condominium, they could be students looking to get their study habits and desks in order so they can dedicate their time to academics. Our clients are people who want to reclaim their homes and people who want to be more efficient and productive.
How do I get started?
Are you truly ready to open up your home and let a confidant go through your personal belongings and work with you in a one-on-one trusted relationship where you are open to learning the skills and habits of an organized individual? Once you have decided that you would like to do so, POSSE can get started with a simple phone call or a quick visit to your home for a consultation. A “Needs Assessment” would be determined between client and professional organizer and the work can be scheduled at a convenient time. The client should plan on being present because this is key for decision making and the transference of organizing skills.
What do we do?
Together your needs and goals are determined and then we utilize five steps in the planning process: Sort, Select, Purge, Organize(Containerize/Labelize) and Enlist. We design systems that work with your personality to get your place and space to function since everyone organizes differently to one’s own brain type. The hardest part for most people is simply to start the project. We work one-on-one with you and go at your pace for decision making.
What don’t we do?
We are not contractors, cleaning people or interior design professionals. We will be happy to recommend other experts beyond the organizing process should you need further help with painting, carpentry, electric, plumbing, heavy-duty shredding, therapy etc. We will not breech anything confidential and we will not judge you. We work under the NAPO Code of Ethics.
How long does it take to get organized?
That depends on the individual client. It could be a few hours or it could be several weeks of different increments of time. The clearer your vision of goals for the space, the quicker the process goes. We will check back with you in one month, three months, six months and a year to ensure your systems are still working for you. Occasionally a client may need to schedule maintenance repairs in order to fine-tune their homes.
How does pricing work?
No matter which room(s) in your home you are looking to organize you can pay by the hour or you can purchase discounted blocks of time. The majority of organizing sessions usually last 3-4 hours with the occasional 8-hour day for major projects that needs to adhere to a deadline.
When do I get billed?
Before organizing sessions are scheduled a client contract is signed. An invoice is generated for each particular appointment/project and cash, check, MasterCard or Visa is accepted.
What geography do we cover?
Since we are located in northern New Jersey we generally (but are not limited to) cater to the top half of the state and into the southern end of New York State. Anything outside of a 45-mile radius from our office would have to include travel expenses.
How can I become a Professional Organizer?
We get a lot of people who ask us how to get started as a Professional Organizer. We would say that the first step is to become a member of the National Association of Professional Organizers (NAPO). This organization will provide a major stepping stone. Then we would suggest joining a local NAPO chapter. Jean Marie is the current Librarian for NAPO-Northern New Jersey. The chapter’s monthly meetings are held at the American Red Cross in Fairfield, New Jersey. These meetings are open to the public for anyone who is interested in becoming a Professional Organizer. They allow an opportunity for education, networking and fellowship amongst women and men who are proactive in the organizing industry. |
